Professional Experience
Steve Ouma wanted to be an architect but was influenced by his family to study law. Helping out at his father’s valuation firm, he learnt to draft valuation reports for major clients. He further honed his drafting skills at Mohammed Madhani and Company Advocates. These skills that have made Steve a miracle man in his Real estate/ Conveyancing, Commercial and Corporate law practice. He has activated dead files and followed them to conclusion. His experience has been brought to the fore in matters that cut across planners, surveyors and architects.
Steve is currently Head of the Real estate and Commercial Department at GVA. His practice areas include Mixed-use, commercial and residential properties, Banking, finance and securities, Joint ventures, acquisitions and due diligence and Energy and infrastructure.
Highlights
- Advised several Real-estate developers on the structuring, construction and sale of units as well as acquisition of commercial and residential properties with a cumulative transactional value of more than Fifty Million Dollars.
- Advised various commercial banks on the perfection of their banking securities and regulatory compliance.
- Advised a group of companies with a considerable investment portfolio spread across various sectors in the United Arab Emirates in their maiden investment in Kenya and the larger Eastern Africa region.
- Advised a global leader in solar energy projects in the acquisition of land for purposes of setting up solar facilities with a transactional value of over Twenty Million Dollars.
Education & Memberships
Steve holds an LLB from Moi University and a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
Hobbies
When he is not practicing law, he dapples in music as virtual DJ. His tastes are an eclectic mix of young dynamic tunes with a bias towards Soft rock, Hip hop and Lingala. He has been involved in the sponsorship of Malkia Strikers, the Kenyan National Volleyball Women’s team. He is also a director of several companies and a member of the Law Society of Kenya.
