Brand names carry with them a certain expectation of quality, and consumers anticipate that this expectation will be consistently met. This is what leads to customer retention, brand loyalty and of course increased sales and profits. However, with brand recognition comes counterfeiters seeking to unscrupulously cash in on the reputation of an established brand. Africa as a continent is awash with counterfeit products.
